History
In origin a medieval cross, probably C15, but reconstructed as a memorial to WWI in c1920.
Exterior
All limestone cross with stepped base, shaft and restored head. The cross has a square base of cut stone with a paved top. This is part of the c1920 reconstruction. On this are two medieval and a reconstructed third step. This carries a broached socket stone which is medieval, a tall octagonal shaft which is probably medieval and a plain chamfered cross of c1920. The top step carries a relief inscription as a war memorial.
Reason for designation
Included and highly graded as a medieval churchyard cross well reconstructed as a memorial to WWI and having group value with the Church of St Thomas a Becket.
