The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument. The monument comprises the remains of a burial cairn, which probably dates to the Bronze Age (c. 2300 - 800 BC). The cairn is situated on a small rise on a shelf between hills overlooking the valley to the SE and measures 8m in diameter and just over 1m high. It consists of turf-covered stone with a number of kerbstones (large blocks and slabs set on edge) visible around the outside. A hole in the centre of the cairn suggests it has been dug into. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric burial and ritual practices. The features are an important relic of a prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape and retain significant archaeological potential. There is a strong probability of the presence of both intact ritual and burial deposits, together with environmental and structural evidence. Cairns may be part of a larger cluster of monuments and their importance can be further enhanced by their group value. The scheduled area comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive. It is a circle and measures 30m in diameter, centred on the cairn.
