Location
Located a short distance to the E of Foxhall Newydd, some 250m W of Foxhall.
History
Early C17 dovecote, built to serve Foxhall Newydd, erected by John Panton, Chief Secretary to the Lord Keeper and Recorder of Denbigh between 1592 and 1608. The adjoining rubble walls basically contemporary or near contemporary, though they have been extensively repaired in recent years.
Exterior
Rectangular dovecote with gabled ends; of limestone rubble construction with chamfered plinth. The entrance faces the house ruins to the SW and there is a breach in the NE gable; small square openings to each gable.
Interior
There are tiers of nesting niches built in a grid around the interior.
Reason for designation
Listed, notwithstanding condition, for its special interest as an early C17 dovecote with associated walls.
Group value with Foxhall Newydd.
