By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

1848. Unusual 2 storey 5 bay facade of classical derivation. Snecked masonry, regular stressed quoins, plinth. Colourwashed ashlar dressings. Stylised entablature with modillion-like band. Central shaped gablet with returned round arched hoodmould over medallion bearing oculus motif.
Outer bays advanced slightly. Recessed tall round arches to central bays, ashlar keystones and impost blocks. Centre bay flanked by ashlar pilasters rising to Ionic derived capitals under gablet. Medallions inset under arches with detached scrolls beneath bearing lettering including ERECTED AD 1848. Masonic motifs of spheres and calipers to medallions.
Cambered stone lintels with stressed keystones across recessed arches to ground floor. Walls ramped inwards underneath.
