Designed by Sir W Goscombe John RA; unveiled on Armistice Day, 11 November 1924.  

Exterior
White granite stepped obelisk set on shallow mound with inset steps. Face of obelisk towards sea has (set on ship's prow) bronze statue of Winged Victory bearing sword and laurel wreath. Inscription below 'In grateful memory of the Men of Penarth who died for their country in The Great War 1914 1918 also 1939 1945'. Sides of obelisk bear inscribed names of men and women lost in both World Wars.
