Full Report for Listed Buildings
The list description is not intended to be a complete inventory of what is listed: it is principally intended to aid identification. By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

History
St Baglan was a pre-Norman foundation although the earliest discernible features of the present building are late medieval. Photographs of the interior show it to have had a ceiled wagon roof and box pews, which were installed in 1824. The surviving openings in the nave also appear to belong to this date. The church was replaced by St Catharine in 1882 and was gutted by fire in 1954.
Exterior
Rubble-stone single-cell church now roofless and overgrown. The E window is 3-light Perpendicular. The chancel S wall has a 3-light flat-headed Tudor window with plain lights but with a hood mould and head stops. The nave S wall has 2 early C19 windows with rounded heads and thin voussoirs. The openings to the W side are also early C19 and comprise a round-headed doorway with window above. A gabled double bellcote stands on the apex. Window details are not visible on the N side where the wall does not survive to its full height. Traces of plaster can be seen on the interior walls but the interior is inaccessible.
Reason for designation
Listed for architectural interest as a substantial fragment of a pre Victorian church, and for group value with St Catharine's church and its churchyard wall.
Scheduled Ancient Monument Gm 428.
