History
C18 with earlier rear wing, but extensively rebuilt, c1980.
Exterior
C18 frontage range originally 2 storeyed with attic, 4-window range, with C19 shop fronts to lower floor. Brick with slate roof, moulded stone architraves with entablatures to upper windows, and stone quoins and cornice. Present front wall a copy of this, using brick with concrete dressings, and with lower storey built out. 2 gabled rear wings also extensively rebuilt, but traces of original timber-framing survive in the west wing, and there are also fragments of framing in the frontage range.
Reason for designation
Included for group value as part of an important group of buildings on High Street.
