History: The cottages form part of a small settlement developed by the Powis Estate from c1830. These houses were built between 1851 and 1861.
Description: Row of 4 cottages. Well coursed and squared local sandstone to main facade, the rest brick; graded slate roof with axial brick stacks. 2 storeys, symmetrically planned as 2 pairs of single-unit cottages with a rear wing to each pair. Each pair has paired doorways, with battened doors in simple shallow timber porches flanked by 3-light iron small-paned casements with flat arched voussoir heads. Similar windows above.
Part of a group of model cottages, which form an excellent example of a small estate settlement, retaining much of its original character.
