Situated on B4337 about 1 km N of Llanwnnen.
History
Road bridge over the river Granell, dated 1843.
Exterior
Rubble stone, two arches, with river channel under E arch. Total length some 26m, width some 4m, widening to 5m at approaches. Triangular cutwater between arches on S side, stepped back at spandrel level and continued up as flat pier, through parapet. String course below parapet, interrupted by centre pier. Parapet has large squared coping stones, one on S side dated 1843. N side is similar but with three cutwaters.
Slight step outwards each side before abutments, which are splayed outwards. Added C20 raking buttress on SE abutment.
Reason for designation
Listed as an attractive twin-arched stone bridge of unusual quality, presumably built for the Hughes family of Castell-du and Neuadd-fawr.
