Full Report for Listed Buildings
The list description is not intended to be a complete inventory of what is listed: it is principally intended to aid identification. By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

Lime-kiln, probably earlier to mid C19, in remote site, but amid stone outcrops. The unusual scale suggests that it could have had an early industrial use, rather than being solely for agricultural use, but the type is smaller and more crude than the mid to later C19 industrial kilns.
Exterior
Limekiln, built apparently of massive unmortared blocks squared limestone blocks. Large, roughly square in plan, built into bank, with tapering walls and front elevation slightly bowed in plan. Single large arched front opening with squared stone voussoirs. Kiln-entry of exceptional depth, some 4.5 to 5m. Crucible infilled.
Reason for designation
The finest of the many pre-industrial lime kilns in the area, of unusual scale and completeness.
