History
This cross is largely undatable. Most churchyard crosses are C15 but a C11 date has been suggested for this one. It is of unusual form, but it may of course have been re-erected in the C15 anyway.
Exterior
The cross lacks its steps, if it ever had them. The socket stone is half buried in the ground and bears a monolithic shaft of rectangular cross section with an integral head of simple form, carved from local conglomerate.
Reason for designation
Included for special interest as a medieval churchyard cross which, unusually, is still complete.
The cross is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, MM104(MON).
