Full Report for Listed Buildings

The list description is not intended to be a complete inventory of what is listed: it is principally intended to aid identification. By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

Group Description
Primrose Cottage, Bluebell Cottage, Lamb Cottage History C19, possibly with earlier origins. A small building is shown on this site on the tithe map of 1840. House or Public House with adjoining cart shed to R. Later, the cart shed was converted to a cottage; the wide entrance was infilled with a door and window, and a stone end stack added. A further unit appears to have been added to the L end. Exterior Terrace of 3 cottages, each with door to R and window to L. Two storeys. Rubble stone, slate roof with red ridge tiles, cusped eaves cornice. Stone end stack to R cottage, stone ridge stack to central cottage and brick end stack to L cottage. A butt joint suggests that the L cottage is later. Planked front doors, those to L and R with overlights. Twelve-pane horned sashes to central and R cottages, that to the latter being wider. Between the two is a very small 4-pane widow of earlier origin. Two-light casement to L cottage. All the openings have flat arched stone heads, but those to the R cottage are under a wide segmental arch which formed the cart entrance. Each cottage has a 2-light multi-pane casement to the upper storey rising to the eaves and directly above the lower storey windows. Large lean-to to rear with balcony, and dormers. No openings to gable ends. The E gable end is rendered.
