Full Report for Listed Buildings

The list description is not intended to be a complete inventory of what is listed: it is principally intended to aid identification. By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

End walls have 2-window range of similar windows, first floor door to E end left with brick and stone steps up. Rear obscured by modern barn, 4-window range with similar openings to first and second floors.

Interior
Oak beams and joists. Basement has 4 heavy beams and 4 iron posts. Red brick rear arches to windows. First floor has 3 beams, one removed, and some iron wheels and shafts for belt-driven machinery. Upper floor is plastered with remains of shafts for hoist. Loft floor above in roof.

Reason for designation
Included as a semi-industrial farm building of unusual scale and architectural character, a significant survival of the early C19 agricultural improvements on the Llancayo Estate.
