Prominently sited within the linear group of historic buildings leading to St. James's Square on the east side of Monmouth and about 300m east of the town centre.
History
Late C18 in character, but possibly older in origin.
Interior
The central lateral stack has angled corner fireplaces in either house, an unusual feature.
Reason for designation
Included for its special architectural interest as an C18 house of definite character near Monmouth town centre.
Group Description
Nos. 11 and 13 St. James' Street
Painted roughcast render with a Welsh slate roof. Pair of single fronted double depth houses with entrances in the outer bays. Three storeys, two windows, c1800 type sashes, 8 over 8 panes on the ground floor, 6 over 6 on the first floor and 3 over 6 on the second floor. Timber doorcases with hoods on brackets, 6-panel doors. Plain low pitch roof with tall shared stack on front wall between houses.
Rear elevation has some sash windows.
