By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

Set back from the road approximately 300m W of the centre of Cilmery.

History
Erected in 1956 to mark the place where Llywelyn II, the last native prince of Wales, was killed in a skirmish with English soldiers in December 1282.
Exterior
A tall prehistoric-style menhir on a stepped concrete base, set on a grassy mound. The monument stands within a railed enclosure, with stone steps to the entrance, flanking which are engraved polished stones with English and Welsh engravings: 'Near this spot was killed our Prince Llywelyn'.
Reason for designation
Listed for its national historic interest as the memorial to one of the greatest of medieval Welsh Princes.
