Full Report for Listed Buildings
The list description is not intended to be a complete inventory of what is listed: it is principally intended to aid identification. By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

Name of Property
Pantyrodyn Cottage
Unitary Authority
Flintshire
Location
On the W side of the main road through the village.
History
Erected in the third quarter of the C19 and first shown on the 1871 Ordnance Survey as a single cottage, although the cottage was probably originally intended to be a pair. The earlier attached single-storey cottage was shown on the 1849 Tithe map. The cottages follow a distinctive settlement pattern in Lixwm of placing dwellings at right angles to the road.
Exterior
A 2-storey cottage of limewashed rubble-stone walls, slate roof and central brick rendered stack, with gable stack to the R cut down and replaced by a chimney pot. The house was probably originally intended as a reflected pair of cottages. In the lower storey is a boarded door to the L under wooden lintel, while on the R side is a horizontal sliding sash window in the position of a second intended doorway. Two small-pane fixed windows are between. The upper storey has 2 large-pane horizontal-siding sashes. A lean-to against the L gable end has a boarded door under a brick segmental head. An earlier single storey cottage is against the R gable end.
Reason for designation
Listed as one of the few unaltered workmen's cottages in the area dating from the growth of local lead mining and lime working in the C19.
