At the E end of the main part of the High Street; stepped forward from No 46. This area was formerly known as Caroline Square.
History
Pair of probably C18 structures with later painted scribed render fronts.
Exterior
Steep slate roof (formerly thatched) with boarded eaves, skylights and Ruabon brick chimney stacks. No 42 has a 4-window front - sash windows without glazing bars; No 44 has a 2-window front with 4-pane sashes. Victorian fascia end brackets to No 42 with 2 shop windows flanking entry and a modern door to right in brick surround. Modern shop front to No 44; cross range to rear.
Interior
The interior of No 44 has one lightly chamfered beam to 1st floor.
