The list description is not intended to be a complete inventory of what is listed: it is principally intended to aid identification. By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

Set well back from the NE side of the country road leading through the village of Llaneilian; Tan y Fynwent is along a small trackway and lies c 25m ESE of the church of St Eilian
History
C18 vernacular cottage. The cottage, along with others in the neighbourhood, formed part of the parish property which had between them over 12 acres(4.86 hectares) of land; at the time of the 1841 Census it was tenanted and farmed by Hugh Jones and his family. The cottage was found to be in a derelict condition at the time of the resurvey and is overgrown with vegetation.
Exterior
Small vernacular cottage range comprising 2 storey, 2 window cottage with central doorway; lower single bay range to W end and 2 unit cowhouse to E, doors offset to R (E). Built of rubble masonry, the cowhouse limewashed, on a boulder base partly on outcropping rock. Roof of small old slates, grouted. Cottage has gable stacks with dripstones and capping; single bay range to W has projecting gable stack at W end. Low rubble wall to rounded garden at front of cottage.

Interior not inspected at the time of the survey.
Reason for designation
Listed, notwithstanding condition, as a small rural C18 cottage and shippon range which retains its vernacular character.
