History
Early to mid C19; built for workers at adjacent quarry.
Reason for designation
Included as relatively unaltered example of earlier C19 industrial housing.
Group Description
Nos 1 to 6 Rhos Goch, Cwm Penmachno, Bro Machno
Row of 6 single-storey houses. Three houses to E at lower level since ground slopes down to E. Local stone rubble. Slate roofs; low rectangular stone chimneys. Stone water tabling on E gable of upper group of houses. Each house consists of square-headed doorway with window to each side. Door and window under deep stone sills with hoodmoulds over. Glazing originally fixed or sash small-pane windows, but mainly replaced. Top house of row extended in line with small square window and smaller square chimney. Houses extended to rear in variety of outshots, generally with monopitch slate roofs, and with varied fenestration.
