History
A bank since it was built, around 1840. The present site was acquired by the Brecon Branch of the National Provincial Bank Ltd in 1840. The stone ground floor dates from 1927. 1970s list description recorded alterations to cornice ongoing in 1973.
Exterior
Bank. Three storey, three-bay stuccoed facade with crowning cornice. Long and short end quoins. Nine-pane sash windows on second floor; 12-pane sashes on first floor. On ground floor, early C20 bathstone bank front; doorway to L, and 2 large windows all with moulded architraves.
Reason for designation
Earlier C19 bank retaining its character with strong Group Value with adjacent listed buildings in the historic centre of Brecon.
