History
Probably early C19 with later alterations. The toll gate was moved from the cottage to Camden Road in 1860.
Exterior
One-and-a-half storey cottage. Painted rubble; slate roofs, half-hipped to N and S. West elevation of two bays; sash windows without glazing bars; upper windows partly in roof space. North elevation with a sash window without glazing bars above; below, a fixed window. East elevation with very tall rendered chimney, and single-storey lean-to addition. Elevation facing canal has single first floor sash window, tall rendered chimney, and gabled addition.
Reason for designation
Former early C19 toll cottage with Group Value with adjacent canal and railway bridge.
