C15 origins but now an almost completely C19 Romantic reconstruction.  

Exterior
Crenellated parapet at varying levels stepping down beyond gateway and curving around to NW opposite Rectory Road. Plain cappings, feathered aprons to crenels, plinth. At NW end the battlemented parapet ceases and the wall slopes down to Pen-y-Dre Lodge. Boarded door openings, including the former Postern Gate to right of Gatehouse. Just inside the wall to S end stands the Italian stone pine tree, said to be one of the finest in the country. Subterranean vault behind the wall to the N end.
