History
Large early C19 cow-house shown on the tithe map of 1839; masonry to lower section shows signs of alteration. Cart-shed and stables added to L in 2 phases.  

Exterior
Large cow-house with lofts constructed of rubble stone under corrugated iron roofs. Three doorways to front, all with split doors under segmental brick heads. Central doorway is raised and leads to a threshing/feeding passage. Lofts with 3 ventilation slits to L and R of passage; further infilled ventilation slits below. Late C20 metal-framed windows with ventilators to far L and R. Cart-shed and stable added to L, of rubble stone under a corrugated iron roof of shallow pitch. Wide cart-shed opening to L with rough timber lintel. Loft door above, and small 2-light opening with hatch to its R. Further stable with loft hatch over, added to L end later. Rear elevation has similar doorway with segmental brick head to through-passage; low doorway with flat head to far R. Boarded loft hatches to L and R, and ventilation slits to far R. Added stable range slightly set back with loft hatch to L and raised door to R and ventilation slits.  

Interior
Central through-passage has flagstone floor and stone side walls to lofts. To rear of passage are small doorways leading to feed passages at right angles, divided from the stalls by slate partitions. Some stall partitions remain. Sawn King-post trusses.  

Reason for designation
Listed as a well-preserved early C19 cow-house, with attached stables and cart-shed, retaining its character. Group value with farmhouse to the N.
