Full Report for Listed Buildings
The list description is not intended to be a complete inventory of what is listed: it is principally intended to aid identification. By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

History
Iron and timber bascule bridge built 1909 for Williams, Foster and Company. It provided a rail link between the Morfa Works and waste tips on the E side of the Tawe. The bridge has a water tank under its W end which when filled caused the main deck of the bridge to lift clear of its timber supports.
Exterior
Iron and timber bascule bridge with coursed rubble abutments with raked revetment walls, raised twin piers with pyramidal cappings. Timber deck with modern handrails supported by braced timber piers with raked supports. Wider centre bay with square timber pier on W bank supports ironwork girder frame to counterpoised lifting deck (formerly with hydraulic power but now fixed).
Reason for designation
Included as a rare survival of the historically important lifting and swivelling bridges on the lower Afon Tawe. Scheduled Ancient Monument GM392.
