By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

Cast-iron Milepost at Waen
Location
At east side of the B4393, opposite the entrance to Waen Farm.
History
Probably late C19 or early C20; Turner Brothers were noted in a trade directory in Newtown in 1903.
Exterior
A cast-iron milepost rounded at top and angled at front. At the head is 'Shrewsbury 18 M'; at left 'Llanfyllin 7 M' and at right 'Oswestry 7 M', in each case with an arrow. The foundry mark 'Turner Bros, Newtown' is faintly impressed. The post is painted white with the raised lettering in black.
Reason for designation
A late C19 or early C20 cast iron milepost, a relic of the era when former turnpikes were under Local Authority management.
