By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

Carrying the B4393 over the Afon Cain.
History
Probably early C19. As an important bridge Pont y Forwyn may predate the era of County bridges; but it has the type of parapet typical of the work of the County Surveyor, Thomas Penson, from c.1821.
Exterior
A single arch bridge of segmental form with a span of about 10 m., in local shaley stone. Plain voussoirs without differentiation of the keystone. Simple string course at the base of the parapets.
The carriageway is about 6 m wide between narrow orthostat parapets. These are slightly tapering with a top chamfer. Slight pier at each corner.
Reason for designation
An important bridge of good early C19 character.
