Full Report for Listed Buildings

The list description is not intended to be a complete inventory of what is listed: it is principally intended to aid identification. By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

History
Probably early C19.

Exterior
Two-storey 3-window range with rear catslide lean-to and rear wing. Constructed of white-washed random stone under a slate roof with central brick ridge stack. Elevation fronting road has widely-spaced windows with 12-pane sashes; those to ground floor have segmental brick heads, those to upper storey immediately under the eaves, except for upper R window which is a 4-over-8-pane sash under a flat-roofed half-dormer. West gable end has 2 windows on each floor: tall windows with segmental brick heads formerly containing sashes, now with small-pane top-hung windows; the window to lower L is smaller and was probably inserted later; there was formerly a doorway to W gable end, but this is now infilled with rubble stone. Catslide to rear, the W end with similar small window. The entrance is now to the rear, in the catslide section: boarded door with strap hinges, with small-pane side-light to L. Further L is a large rear wing, the W side with a small-pane top-hung window under segmental head, with gabled half-dormer above with 4-pane sash; to upper R, a shallow light with decorative glazing. E side not seen.

Interior
Interior not seen.

Reason for designation
Listed as an early C19 house retaining its character and detail.
