By law, the definition of a listed building includes the entire building (i) and any structure or object that is fixed to the said building and ancillary to it and (ii) any other structure or object that forms part of the land and has done so since before 1 July 1948, and was within the curtilage of the building, and ancillary to it, on the date on which said building was first included in the list, or on 1 January 1969, whichever was later.

Location
Situated either side of war memorial at entrances to former Infirmary.
History
Two pairs of gateposts contemporary with Carmarthenshire Infirmary of 1857-8, but all but second one and plinth of fourth missing in 2002. Retained on list as possibly to be re-erected. The upper blocks of left pier of right entrance were already dismantled and at rear of forecourt in 1977. Gatepiers are shown in print of 1861.
Exterior
Painted grey limestone gate piers in 3 pieces: high plinth, short chamfered-and-stopped shaft and heavy capstone with coved cornice under curved cap with lunette panel to front.
Reason for designation
Included for group value with the War Memorial and former Infirmary.
