Set back slightly from the street line behind a low rendered forecourt wall with surmounting modern railings.
History
Late C18 townhouse with minor late C19 alterations.
Exterior
Elegant 3-storey Georgian house with symmetrical 3-bay facade of squared and coursed limestone blocks; slate roof with brick end chimney to the L. Central entrance with moulded wooden doorcase with simple cornice and plain pilasters; 6-panel door, the upper panels fielded, with plain rectangular overlight. Twelve-pane unhorned sash windows to the ground and first floors, except to the outer windows of the latter which have had their glazing bars removed. Nine-pane unhorned sashes to the second floor; flat arches and projecting stone sills throughout.

Reason for designation
Listed for its special interest as a late C18 town house retaining particularly good external character with only minimal alteration.
Group value with other listed items in Vale Street; one of a number of fine town houses in this street, historically regarded as the gentry and professional quarter of the town.
