Situated built into high bank to rear NE of barn behind Llandyfan, approached by footpath from Llandyfan church.
History
Large lime-kiln first referred to c1758.
Exterior
Large rubble stone limekiln set into steep bank, the front broad, high and with curved angles. A single broad high arch to the front, robbed of original stone voussoirs, and within, set-back, is a double arch with pier between and curved back diminishing to two small kiln openings at ground level. The removal of trees, overgrowth and buildings below have revealed the crucible, partly infilled, and shown that the front wall has been undermined by previous levelling of the farmyard below.
Reason for designation
A lime-kiln of early date, exceptional in the double recessed kiln eyes.
