Situated in front of terraced row on the E side of North Street, just N of Queen's Square.
History
Raised pavement probably contemporary with the houses of Castle Terrace, dated 1832.
Exterior
Raised pavement rising in height with slope of North St, from left to right. Retaining wall of rubble stone with short iron railings. Wrought-iron spearhead rails with thinner dog-bars and square standards at intervals with cast-iron anthemion finials (as on rails to Gloucester Terrace, Holloway). Wall is highest before No 1 with steps down to road. Blocked segmental-headed openings in the retaining walls with brick heads, for former coal-chutes. Stone paving to terrace.
