History
Said to be a converted early C19 laundry, but emphatic rustication suggests the early C20. Marked on 1846 Tithe Map, recorded as `ornamental stone-built laundry and dairy, coal-pit, cheese-room and oil-store' later used as gas generating house, now domestic.
Exterior
Early C19 former laundry, roughcast with emphatic Cilgerran stone dressings and hipped slate roof. Two storeys with heavy square stone blocks to eaves cornice, except at slightly projected centre bay on N and S sides, where there is a plain eaves band. Three-window range, with Cilgerran stone plinth, band, rusticated quoins to outer and centre-bay angles, and to all surrounds. Identical N and S fronts with ground floor centre recessed broad arched entry and lunette each side, first floor circular window each side and centre large lunette. W and E ends have similar ground floor broad arch and similar large lunette above. Upper floor lunettes have tripartite glazing with intersecting glazing bars to hornless sashes (blank on N side centre). Ground floor lunettes have simpler C20 glazing, blank to N side left. Roundels have radiating-bar glazing, and broad arches are partly infilled with doors N and S, windows E and W. W end has also, to left, plain door, and to right, porch with pitched roof, quoins and S side entry.
