Location
Situated carrying a minor road from A40 in Llanstinan to E over Afon Cleddau.
History
Dating from pre-1602 (marked on George Owen map) and pre-dating the turnpike road system (c1800). Upper part extensively rebuilt 1988.
Exterior
Unaltered very narrow bridge of primitive construction with slightly corbelled drystone abutments. longer stones used for original nine lintels over centre of arch. Original bridge is now some 1.5 m below the raised roadway with modern facing stones and on-edge slate coping to parapet.
Reason for designation
Extremely rare example of ancient bridge building technology. One other recorded on Ffordd at Bedd Morris, Newport, Pembrokeshire.
