History
Probably built as a terrace of houses c1880, and converted into shops c1900, the present shop fronts date from c1930.

Exterior
Belongs to a group of 58-64 Abergele Road (even) and 1 Rhiw Bank Avenue, Colwyn Bay. Roughcast render with smooth rendered dressings. Slate roof with tiled cresting. 3 storeys with attics. 3-wondow range to Abergele Road, with advanced gable to the right, and a narrow later addition (c1930) to the left. Main 3-window range has 2 canted oriel windows to first floor, with modillion cornices, the glazing in each renewed. The upper storey windows were originally 4-pane sashes, but have also been renewed in original openings. Round-arched attic window beneath steep dormer gable to the left, which has bargeboards with finial. Advanced gable to the right has similar canted oriel window, paired 4-pane sash windows above, and round arched window gable apex. Flat headed mullioned windows in the small extension to the left of the range. Shop fronts projecting from ground floor are c1930: heavy detailing, including modillion cornice, deep fascia with glass lettering to right hand unit, slender brackets with corbel heads and dragon finial to right. Curved display windows to each shop, with recessed entrances. Windows have leaded upper panes, some with stained glass pictures of ships, windmills etc. In the right hand gable, the shop front is a somewhat earlier type, and has arcaded segmentally arched windows and doorway, the cast iron columns with capitals and brackets with foliate spandrels carrying glazed canopy. Return elevation to Rhiw Bank Avenue has canted bay windows alternating with 4-pane sashes, and central entrance beneath gable.

Interior

Reason for designation
Listed for the special interest of the shop fronts, which are very well-preserved examples of their period.
