Exterior
Cowhouse, C17. Timber framed with later brick noggings replacing laths, and random jointed slate roof. Six bays, extended to the road by a building, probably originally a gig house, now housing calves, and a granary over, of c.3 bays. Square panel framing raised 0.5m on stone sill walls. Infill brickwork is laid with four missing headers forming a lozenge shaped vent in each panel. Heavy bressumer, and panels above subdivided horizontally with binding timber. Driftway through the 4th bay from the N. N gable rebuilt in blockwork with large opening. The attached granary is of brick, with a timber framed upper floor and stone built gable to road and back wall. The cross floor beams are close spaced. No access to roof.  

Interior
Slightly jowled posts with straight corner braces to tie beams, queen struts and collar, with angled struts to principal rafters in gables. Single tier of purlins, and diagonally set ridge. The truss on the N side of the driftway has two windbraces, and another at the S end. S bay has an inserted floor, and the gable wall has tension braces. Assembly marks made with gouge.  

Reason for designation
Included as part of an important group of farm buildings associated with Dyffryn farmhouse.
