Coach House, Gate Piers, Gated and Flanking Wall at Vaynor Park
Location
The coach house is at right-angles to the stable block, to which it is linked by the walls flanking the gates giving access to the service courtyard to the N of the house.
History
Built as part of Thomas Penson's remodelling work at Vaynor, between 1840 and 1853.
Exterior
Coach house is brick with slate roof: shaped gables with stone copings corbelled out at either end. 3 segmental archways with stone keystones in brick arched heads. Flanking walls are brick with stone copings: square section piers of banded brick and stone with pyramidal finials. Boarded gates with shallow arched profile.
Reason for designation
Part of an important group of buildings forming an ensemble at Vaynor Park.
