In Pen-y-bont over the Afon Honddu about 300m north of the Church of St Michael, Llanvihangel Crucorney.
History
Built in 1827 by the County of Monmouth. It replaced a two arched C17 bridge of the type which survives upstream at Pont Rhys-Powell. The downstream parapet carries a plaque inscribed 'This bridge was rebuilt at the expense of the County in the sixth year of the reign of George the Fourth 1827' The engineer's name has been destroyed.
Exterior
Single arch bridge with shallow segmental arch. Dressed voussoirs, drip and parapet, the rest is sandstone rubble. The spandrels are laid randomly, the parapet is thin coursed. Splayed abutments.
Reason for designation
Included as a good example of an early C19 county bridge.
