Situated just S of the crossroads some 200m W of Sandy Haven and 250m SE of Sandy Haven House.
History
Mid C19 lime kiln apparently marked on 1839 Tithe map.
Exterior
Rubble stone large circular lime kiln with additional wall thickness projecting on N front. Some 3m high and 6m in diameter built into S bank with retaining walls. E and W sides have large kiln eyes some 2m high curved-sided tapering up to stone slab lintels, and curving inwards to stoking holes . Open round crucible in good condition.
Reason for designation
Listed as one of the most complete surviving examples of a lime kiln of the region, unusual for the survival of the lime-burner's hut behind..
