Carriage house at Voelas
Location
The carriage house forms the S side of the service courtyard, E of the house, and backs on to the walled garden.
History
The carriage house was probably built in the mid C19 as part of the range around the service yard of the earlier house, built 1856-1858 for Charles Wynn-Finch at Voelas.
Exterior
Built of rubble, with a slate roof and end gable stacks. One tall lower floor and attics over. The courtyard elevation has large C20 sliding doors to the former carriage houses, and 6-paned windows over. One side door. To the rear, three large offsetting buttresses. The building extends to the E by a further hip-roofed service building.
Reason for designation
Included as providing enclosure to the walled garden on the N side, and of group value with adjoining buildings and the garden at Voelas.
