Entrance gates and walls to Groes Hall
Location
Located at the former entrance to Groes Hall which led off the A543 c300m NE of the junction of the A543 and the B5428, and c150m NE of Groes Hall; at the N end of the village of Groes.
History
Built in the early C19, probably contemporary with a major rebuilding of the main house.
Exterior
Wide entrance gates and flanking railings recessed behind the rubble boundary wall of Groes hall. The vertical rails to the gates and flanking railings have fleur de lys finials; the gates with lock rail and curving rail ascending to the centre. The rubble walls have emphatic 'cock and hen' copings and terminate in square rubble piers.
Reason for designation
Included as an integral part of the estate at Groes Hall. The gates once formed the main entrance to the Hall.
