Isolated location approximately 250m S of site of demolished house, and 15m NW of the Alpine Bridge.
History
Later C18 ice-house built for Thomas Johnes of Hafod, built into slope.
Exterior
Ice-house, visible externally as a mound covered in undergrowth. Passage entry facing NE with rubble revetments. Roughly constructed pointed doorway set within recess with voussoired segmental head.
Interior
Very deep crucible of rubble, with domical top.
Reason for designation
Included as a well-preserved late C18 ice-house and for historical importance as an original part of Thomas Johnes' improvements at Hafod.
