Glan-y-morfa stands beside the road from Bryn Crug to Llanfihangel. The building stands in front of the former farmhouse, and forms the NE side of the former farmyard.
History
The building was probably originally a barn, built in the late C17-early C18, the openings possibly altered at the time the building served as a small methodist chapel, probably under the guidance of Dafydd Ionawr, a preacher of local significance, in the mid C19, who was born and bred at Glan-y-morfa.
Exterior
Built of locally derived boulders with an admixture of white quartz. Graded slate roof between raised and coped parapets on double-ovolo moulded kneelers. A single storey building of 3 bays with narrow off-centre opposing doors with half-round arched heads of stone. C20 Boarded door and fanlight in the head of the opening. The bay against the road has a similarly contructed window opening, with a C20 glazed window. Ventilation slits at 2 levels, and two in the gable end below a pitching door.
Reason for designation
Included as a farm building of early origin, adapted in the C19 with distinctive arched openings.
