Location
A footbridge spanning the River Taff on the E side of River Street 250m S of St Dyfrig's Church.
History
Probably built in the early C19 and first shown on the 1846 Llantwit Fardre Tithe map.
Exterior
A narrow double-carriageway 3-bay bridge of rubble stone with segmental arches. On the N (upstream) side is a V-shaped cutwater with pyramidal cap to the W and a V-shaped cutwater on the E side that is corbelled out to support an added plate girder supporting the parapet. On the S (downstream) side are V-shaped cutwaters with stepped pyramidal caps. The deck is ramped from the W to the E side. The footways on each side are a late C19 addition. They project outwards and are carried on steel girders. They have latticework steel parapets that are splayed out at the ends, except the NE side where the parapet is missing.
Reason for designation
Listed as a good early C19 former road bridge.
