History
The memorial probably dates from immediately after the recorded date of death in 1916. The Marquis de la Pasture had lived at Cefn-ila since 1897. However, the eldest son Charles de la Pasture had been killed at Ypres in 1914 and the memorial may originate with him.

Exterior
Tall memorial cross in a Celto-Byzantine style. It is constructed of dressed granite and limestone. The memorial stands on a square step and has a base of two diminishing square blocks. This supports a double Ionic column of Byzantine type. The base and the lower part of the shaft are granite, with limestone above. On the top of the column is a Celtic type cross with zig-zag decoration. There are relief inscriptions on the base blocks and on a tablet. The earliest of these is to 'Gerard Gustavus du Carel, 4th Marquis de la Pasture 1838-1916'.

Interior

Reason for designation
Included for its special interest as a rare and usual design of the Celtic Revival.
