History
Vernacular regional bridge perhaps medieval; formerly carrying a track or road now lost but apparently formerly leading to Ysbyty Ifan where the Knights Hospitallers had a commandary. Edward Lhuyd mentions the bridge in the 1690s as 'Pont Rhyd y Porthnyn.' The name links the bridge with cattle droving.

Single-span vernacular bridge with rough-dressed voussoirs to a depressed pointed arch. There are no parapets (and probably never were).
Reason for designation
Listed as a possibly C17 regional bridge retaining original character, a rare survivor of an early vernacular bridge.
