Location
Set back from the road at the foot of Rhyd-y-Maengwyn Wood, approximately 450m SE of the parish church.
History
Built in the third quarter of the C19 and shown on the 1871 Ordnance Survey. The quarry was immediately NE of the kiln, in what is now Rhyd-y-Maengwyn Wood. The kiln was disused by 1899.
Exterior
A tapering snecked-stone kiln built into a steep bank. The top is partly missing. The segmental-headed draw arch has bands of bullnose blue brick and yellow brick, with blue-brick hood, inside which is a rubble-stone vault and lower arched draw hole.
Reason for designation
Listed as a prominently sited and well-preserved quarry lime kiln, representing a once important local industry.
