House and baker's shop

History
An early-mid C19 shop and house first shown on the 1889 Ordnance Survey. The older shop front behind the present C20 front is probably late C19.
Exterior
A late-Georgian style 3-storey 2-bay shop and house of roughcast painted cream, slate roof and pebble-dashed end stacks. The shop has a plate-glass window on modern brick stallboard, with glazed doors to the L. The shop front is framed by panelled pilasters. The fascia was removed at the time of survey, revealing rusticated quoin strips that probably flanked an earlier shop front and survive behind the present pilasters. Windows have eared architraves painted green and are 4-pane horned sashes, shorter in the upper storey.
Reason for designation
Listed for its special architectural interest as a commercial and residential building of definite C19 character, and for its contribution to the historical townscape.
