History
Built c1932. By North & Padmore, Architects, of Llanfairfechan. (Herbert Luck North (1871 1941) outstanding Arts and Crafts architect of his age in Wales, and P M Padmore
(b 1896) ).
The Close was laid out and developed between 1899 and 1945. The almost unaltered buildings (in materials making reference to local vernacular building styles), and the lay out of The Close, form a textbook example of a group of quality Arts & Crafts style domestic architecture unique in Wales.
Exterior
Two storey house. Rough cast render (now painted white). Roof laid in graded courses of small mainly grey slates from Gallt y Llan quarry, Snowdon. Broad chimney stack in red brown brick.
Compact plan with cross gable facing NW; upper floor has single 3 light small pane casement window; ground floor has 3 light window to L and 2 light window to R. To R of gable, roof sweeps down to ground floor level over porch; French windows and door at right angles. Elevation to lane (SW) has 3 light window to each floor. Rear of cross gable (SE) has 3 light window on upper floor and semi hexagonal ground floor bay with hipped slated roof.
Facing lane at rear of The Close is garage with roof of graded courses of slates and rendered walls.
