History
Mid C19 with later C19 shopfront.
Exterior
Three storey, two window building in painted rubble, slate roof, large rectangular stone chimney to L. Square second floor windows with modern glazing. Modern glazing (respecting original openings) to first floor (deep stone lintels). On first floor, to right of L window, swivelling cast-iron crane. Ground floor (L) has four-panelled door with overlight. To R, good late C19 shopfront. Central doorway with glazed double doors (light over) set back between windows with colonettes and decorated angle brackets; ventilator grilles over windows. Inscriptions on stallrisers, 'Wines & Spirits', 'Bottled Beers', 'Tea Dealer' and 'Family Grocer'. Flanking pilasters (probably simplified) with scrolls above. Entablature with inscription 'Charlton's Stores'. Sunblind folds above entablature.
