History
A pedestrian path, Cust's Path, had been engineered in the cliff faces of the Great Orme in the 1850's, so vertiginous that Gladstone complained that he had had to blindfolded in order to be led along certain sections. In 1872, The Great Orme's Head Marine Drive Co was inaugurated to convert the path to a carriage drive. Work began in September 1875, and was completed in 1878.  

Exterior
Lodge faced with rusticated stone blocks of different rectangular and square sizes. Embattled parapets with mock machicolation. Northern part in form of a three-storey tower; in its north-east elevation there is a two-light stone mullioned window with stone lintel on both second and first floors and a three-light mullioned window on ground floor; its south-east elevation has a two-light window on second floor and, to left hand, at right angles and extending to the south-east, a lower two storey wing with hipped slate roof and red tile cresting. Porch in angle between the two wings with a pointed doorway of stone and a panelled door. Two-storey wing with a two-light stone mullion window both above and below, both in north-east and south-east elevations.
